MD, Lanka IOC calls on Mr Arjuna Ranatunga, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum Resources Development, Government of Sri Lanka

Mr. Shyam Bohra, Managing Director, Lanka IOC PLC called on Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum Resources Development, Government of Sri Lanka Mr. Arjuna Ranatunga, Mr. Ranatunga has recently taken charge of Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development. Mr. Bohra briefed hon’ble minister on the activities of Lanka IOC PLC in the country, contribution it made to the economy of the country & in particular in development of petroleum sector in Sri Lanka. He also shared future plans of the company and overview of the petroleum sector. Hon’ble minister was very appreciate of the work done by Lanka IOC and expected that Lanka IOC to play an even more active role in the development of petroleum sector in the country & will contribute to the economy of Sri Lanka.

Each year Lanka IOC celebrates International Women’s Day in a big way. This year also we celebrated International Women’s Day 2017 with the theme “Be Bold for Change’. On this occasion, prominent speaker in Sri Lanka Ms. Deshika Rodrigo graced the function as Chief Guest. She is Head of HR of Standard Chartered Bank.
On the occasion, our Managing Director Mr. Shyam Bohra, appreciated the contribution of female employees in the success of the company. He also stated that as part of IOC culture, Lanka IOC always encourages female employees to grow in organization, acquire additional qualification and skills. They are given incentives for acquiring additional qualifications/skills.
Chief Guest Ms. Deshika Rodrigo addressed the employees on this year’s theme “Be Bold for Change”. She conducted a workshop on the ‘Work Life Balance’, on the struggle a woman goes through and how to balance the career life and personal life to overcome the obstacles. It was a very interactive session & participants enjoyed the session as well found it very useful.
At the end of the function, all the female employees were felicitated with a memento by MD, Lanka IOC.
In its endeavors to built capabilities of our channel partners towards even changing external environment and to make them better capable in handling challenges in the market place, Lanka IOC PLC conducts several workshops for its dealers with the help of experts in the field.
One such workshop on Capability building was conducted for dealers in association with Faculty of Management studies, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The major topics included in this workshop Attitude change, Human Resources Management, Customer orientation, and Brand Management.
About 65 dealers participated in this workshop successfully conducted by Senior lecturer Mr. Rukmal Weerasinghe and Dr. Janak Kumarasinghe, in the presence of Senior Vice President (RS & HR) Mr. Siddharth Agarwal.
Recently Lanka IOC conducted a skill building program for its employees in collaboration of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited at its facilities in Mumbai India. The training was conducted at IOC’s world class training center at Mumbai “IndianOil Management Centre for Learning (IMCL)” during January 2017.
The objective of the program was not only to give technical inputs on product knowledge, selling skills with focus of customer relationship management, but also to expose them to the values & strength of the parent company. Indian Oil Corporation (IndianOil) is India’s largest commercial enterprise, with a sales turnover of US$ 61 billion for the year 2015-16. IndianOil is ranked 161st among the world’s largest corporates (and first among Indian enterprises) in the prestigious Fortune ‘Global 500’ listing for the year 2016.
Lanka IOC team was absolutely delighted after their visit to India with some of the members expressing it as a life changing experience. Visit to India also gave them an opportunity to see some important tourist places.

Lanka IOC PLC, while sharing the grief that the country is going through, due to the inclement weather conditions that has caused large scale devastation in the country, the company contributed a sum of Rs. 5 million to the Disaster Relief Fund of the Presidential Secretariat, in order to help the affected people.
Considering the urgent need at a time of this natural calamity, as a responsible corporate citizen, the company decided to contribute towards this cause. The Employees of Lanka IOC also contributed their one day’s salary towards this worthy cause. The company wishes a speedy resettlement for the affected community.

The International Women’s day which was on the 8th March was celebrated at Lanka IOC with lot of fervor and gaiety.
Mr Shyam Bohra, Managing Director appreciated the achievements of the women employees and the invaluable contribution made by them in helping the company reach the enviable position of becoming the 4th largest public liability company in Sri Lanka today. He conveyed that the theme for International Women’s day 2016 ” PLEDGE FOR PARITY” needs to be imbibed in word and spirit . Later all employees took this pledge of valuing women and men’s contribution equally , challenging conscious and unconscious bias and creating an inclusive and flexible work culture in the company . He also conveyed that while currently the women employees in Head Office constitute 25% of the total employee strength , efforts are on to recruit more women employees in the organization.
To improve the orientation of the women employees at work place and at home ,a workshop was organized in which Ms Archana Law a management expert representing “Women in Management” emphasized the need for women to work uninhibitedly and with commitment so that their potential is fully realized. She also conveyed the need for gender equality , empowerment and the need to maintain a proper work – life balance.
A similar program was conducted at Trincomalee Terminal wherein senior government officials were invited who shared their experiences and appreciated the contributions being made by the women employees working in challenging conditions.
Mementoes were later given to all the women employees as a token of recognition of their good work .
Lanka IOC onboard to power 35th National Conference of Chartered Accountants

Lanka IOC PLC recently came onboard to power the 35th National Conference of Chartered Accountants organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) with a gold sponsorship.
This is the first time Lanka IOC has extended its support to the national conference, which is one of the country’s largest corporate events, with an annual participation of over 1200 chartered accountants and business leaders. This year’s conference will revolve around the theme ‘Rethink to Revive’.
Managing Director of Lanka IOC Mr. Subodh Dakwale noted that rethinking may be linked to revive positives in efficiency, productivity, quality, competitiveness in our business process resulting in maximizing creation of wealth, value and satisfaction for all stakeholders.
“As an organization, Lanka IOC always finds innovative ways to achieve international standards of excellence in all aspects of business spectrum with a focus on our vision to become a major integrated energy company with strong environment conscience, playing a national role in energy security of the country. In the globalised environment, we need to keep evolving ourselves to remain competitive and bring customer delight through value of products and services,” he said.
Mr. Dakwale emphasized that the theme of the 35th National Conference of Chartered Accountants organized by CA Sri Lanka is very pertinent in the present world. This conference will have participation of hundreds of business leaders and professionals whose deliberation on the theme subject will certainly be very productive and helpful.
Welcoming Lanka IOC onboard, President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Arjuna Herath, said that it was a pleasure to have a company in the stature of Lanka IOC onboard to support the 35th National Conference of Chartered Accountants for the first time in the conference’s history.
“We are looking forward to yet another inspiring conference this year from 23rd to 25th of October 2014, which will give our chartered accountants as well as business leaders, the required leverage to help them spearhead revival by rethinking conventional business models at this year’s conference,” he added.

Lanka IOC published their turn over at Rs.81.79 billion, their gross profit at a staggering Rs.8.31 billion, their profit after tax at Rs. 4,813 million and their market capitalization at Rs.20,500 million.
The Chief Guest at the occasion was Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary to the Ministry of Defense and Urban Development while Chief Justice Mohan Pieris was the special guest. Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa and Priyanthi Pieris were also present at the occasion. The event was further graced by many distinguished guests including politicians, corporate leaders, foreign dignitaries, diplomats and members of the armed forces of Sri Lanka. Mr. Rajapaksa addressed the gathering during the award ceremony. Staged performances and entertainment during the evening also shed light on the new strides and ventures of BT Options.
