Hon’ble Minister during his address complemented LIOC for always showing concern and effort to support the society.
He conveyed that this type of help of LIOC will go a long way in creating a healthy society and also congratulated LIOC for coming forward as a responsible corporate always.

An Alms giving ceremony was organized on the Full Moon poya day recently at Sri Vajirarama Temple, Colombo 04.
The alms were offered to 16 no’s of Monks with Ata – Pirikara and other Pirikara (the eight Monastic requisites) to each of them.
The Minister Udaya Gammanpila attended the ceremony along with MD LIOC & senior executives.

It was a proud moment for female employees of Lanka IOC when founder and Chairperson of Women in Management, Dr. Sulochana Segera interacted with them recently.
While addressing, she emphasized that every woman must endeavour to transform their inner strength into success as the designation retires, but not the personality or the image.
She advised participants to never regret for the disappointments, rather turn them into opportunities which will direct them for the success.
Success is not a magic, not a gift from almighty God, everyone has to explore it.
While interacting, she was remembering one incident of her childhood, when her father once told her, if you are not happy, do not be into it, I couldn’t understand the meaning of it, but later when my life was so challenging, I realize what he meant.
She further emphasized on value of learning at every stage of life and requested to generate thirst for reading always as learning will drive everyone to achieve further heights. If you can target for the high goal, dream for the best position then only you can achieve it.
Same way, Happiness doesn’t come to us automatically, it has to be explored and imbibed in our personality.
The session of Dr. Sulochana was very motivational and interactive.
She admired that the women leadership is essential and crucial towards corporate success and further she elaborated that “Wherever women are, whatever they do, they can make success and best in that scenario, but at the same time woman must understand the strength hidden inside them and they should work on the same.
Career goals and personal life goals are interconnected and never can be treated separately; woman should always be self-driven with positive vision”.
The employees were completely engaged during the session and enriched their knowledge that shall go a long way in excelling their individual professional and personal life.

CPC, CPSTL & LIOC employees gets training on SAP at IndianOil’s Training centre at Gurgaon

With the assistance of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., SAP (ERP) system was implemented in the year 2010 for entire Petroleum Sector in Sri Lanka involving all the three oil companies viz Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL), Lanka IOC PLC (LIOC).
Under the guidance of Mr. Chandima Weerakkody, Hon. Minister of Petroleum Resources Development, it was decided in SAP ERP Steering Committee that the employees of CPC and CPSTL should be get refresher training in SAP. Since an efficient ERP system is an utmost necessity to take any company to newer heights, it was decided that concentrated efforts be made to further develop SAP and take the IT development forward.
Accordingly, during the bilateral meeting held between Hon. Minister of Petroleum Resources Development, GoSL and Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, GoI, it was decided that employees of CPC and CPSTL will be given fresh training by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. It was decided that aprx. 92 employees of CPC and CPSTL will be sent to India for training. The first batch of 28 employees led by Mr. A H S Wijesinghe, Additional Secretary (Development) and Mr. Anuj Jain, SVP(Finance) went to India to get training on SAP (ERP) system at IndianOil Institute of Petroleum Management (IiPM), India.
IiPM is the apex learning centre of IndianOil at Gurgaon, India. It conducts advanced management education programmes in collaboration with premier business schools and topline professionals. IiPM has been conducting global standard international business management programmes. IiPM is an ISO 9001-2000 certificate institute and has been awarded the Golden Peacock National Award for ‘Innovative Training Practices’ and other prestigious awards such as “Best Innovation in Teaching” award and ‘Innovative Training Practices’ award. Executive Director, IiPM personally coordinated the training at IiPM for Sri Lankan delegates.
IndianOil’s state of art ‘Corporate Business Technology Centre’ that provides SAP & other IS support across India is also located within the premises of IiPM. All the participants visited the Technology & Data Centre and magnitude of the Centre totally mesmerized all the participants.
The training programme was customized to the requirement of participants and various SAP modules were extensively covered by the faculty members. Executive Director, Information systems, IOC closely monitored the training programme and gave his valuable inputs to the participants.
Apart from learning various modules of the SAP, participants also visited IndianOil’s Corporate Office, New Delhi. At the SAP training closing event, Mr. Wijesinghe thanked Mr. Shyam Bohra MD, LIOC and IndianOil Management for arranging this training and stated that this sort of training will strengthen the relationship between CPC, CPSTL, LIOC and IOC. While giving their feedback, participants stated that this training programme will not only improve their day-to-day efficiency but will also help them to enhance their knowledge for future technological upgradation of SAP (ERP) system. Next batch of the training is being planned in the month of June 2017.
Chairman, IOC also addressed the participants & shared his fond memories of the time when he was on the Board of LIOC and conveyed his best wishes to the participants.
Lanka IOC contributes Rs. 5 Million for Disaster Relief Fund, Govt. of Sri Lanka for relief measures in the wake of devastating floods

The southern area of Island Country is facing nature’s fury and huge swathes of land have submerged due to the torrential rains during the last week. Several lives have been lost due to flooding and landslides and more than 450,000 people have been displaced. Efforts are on by the Government authorities to rescue people who are marooned and trapped in continuing rains and the fear of landslides still lurking around.
Citizen’s welfare has always been a priority area for Lanka IOC. In this hour of national crisis to supplement the rescue and relief measures, Sh. Shyam Bohra, MD, Lanka IOC handed over a cheque of Rs. 5 Million for “Disaster Relief Account”, to Hon. Arjuna Ranatunga, Minister of Petroleum Resources Development, Government of Sri Lanka. Hon. Minister was very appreciative of this gesture. The employees of the Company are not far behind and have pitched in with a contribution equivalent to their 1 day salary to the relief fund. The Company had also contributed Rs. 5 Million in July’2016 in relief due to another disaster arising out of a massive landslide in heavy rains. As part of its CSR activities, the Company organizes health camps, blood donation camps, distribution of wheel chairs, English literacy campaign for poor children. It has also provided ambulances and reconstructed 2 primary health centres and maternity homes.
The Lanka IOC business partners have also galvanized to associate themselves in providing relief measures at local level and also with financial contribution. The Company is also making all out efforts to restore normal operations of its filling stations which were badly affected due to this devastating flood. Continuous monitoring is being done in close co-ordination with government officials to ensure availability of petroleum products across the Island. Lanka IOC remains committed to the cause of Nation and will always be ready to extend all possible help and assistance in such hours of human crisis.
